If you needed to confirm what we have been telling our clients, check out this article. Providers are getting more and more aggressive in their billing practices, and they are on the move from Florida to Detroit and other parts yet to be detected. The efforts by Medicare and insurers are laudable but do nothing to help self-funded plans. In fact, they make it worse since providers move where the odds of detection are smallest.

The question for every self-funded plan is not whether they are paying for provider fraud but how much they are paying. Our investigations show they are paying more and more. We can find the fraud and remove it. But the self-funded plans have to make this part of their management strategy.
